Writing Coaching
I have a passion for language and was a Modern Languages teacher for 27 years. I am now a regular Inspirational Storytellers contributor / author and my new book: Take Me to the Mountain – discovering the ‘you that never dies’ has been recently published by Inspirational Storytellers. Its sequel, ‘Fiery Love,’ will be available in 2015. I have an interest in both fiction and non-fiction and have two novels and a collection of inspirational stories in progress.
As a writing coach I bring together my writing, teaching and counselling experience to encourage others to develop and share their own love of writing. I work with individuals needing personal encouragement and inspiration and also run Inspirational Writing workshops and retreats for small groups.
Critique Service for Short Stories; Anthologies; Memoirs; Children’s Fiction; Novelettes; Non-Fiction and Synopses.
This will give you an overall evaluation of your manuscript and will include an appraisal of its particular strengths and weaknesses as I perceive them. I will suggest ways in which you might use those strengths to full effect and also make recommendations that will help you to revise your work. I am keen to recognize – and celebrate – your unique ‘writer’s voice’!
My overall aim is to inspire you to complete your writing project with renewed confidence and enjoyment.
Proofreading and Editing Service
As a proofreader I will examine your text for spelling errors, punctuation errors, grammatical errors, and lack of consistency (fonts, spacing, usage of bold, italics, underscore etc.). It is always more difficult to spot errors in our own work as our brains tend automatically to correct small errors. Most of us, however experienced, will benefit from a proofreader.
As an editor I will check that your sentences make sense and will highlight any ambiguity or poor wording. I will point out any inconsistencies or confusions in the text and help you to express your ideas in clear, simple language with the intention of improving the general flow and quality of writing. I may choose to omit and/or rewrite sentences or paragraphs, particularly in the case of clichés and if the text is too wordy or ‘flowery.’ (Grammatical errors will already have been addressed in the proofing). Throughout the editing process I will be keen to respect – and celebrate – your unique ‘writer’s voice.’

Recommendations:
“Writing my first book was a daunting task. Having Moyra there to guide me step-by-step was a blessing. When the book was published, I was astonished at what we accomplished in such a short period of time! Moyra is an amazing editor and a joy to work with. I look forward to collaborating with her on Book Two of my Trilogy and highly recommend her services.” – Arielle Faith Michael
“I have known Moyra for a relatively short time. Having written a few short stories and non-fiction articles, I decided to seek Moyra’s advice on a latest piece of work. I had spent a lot of time rewriting and editing, and thought my story was pretty much perfect. However, Moyra managed to edit and polish it even more. I was thrilled with the result. I would recommend writers of any experience to contact Moyra and ask for her advice and skills. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.” – P. Bacanin
